Police Blotter: Accident Report and Arrest Logs for Old Lyme and East Lyme

Accident Report: Pedestrian Struck on Four Mile River Road in Old Lyme
On October 16, a pedestrian walking down Four Mile River Road near the intersection of Overbrook Road in Old Lyme was struck by the right side mirror of a passing vehicle.

The driver, Karzimierz Szmczyk, 59, of 14 Sunset Drive in Old Lyme was given a written warning for failing to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian. The pedestrian, Sara Champine, 24, of 136 Four Mile River Road in Old Lyme, was issued a written warning for failing to walk on the left side of the road when no sidewalk or shoulder is available.
According to the police report filed at State Police Troop F in Westbrook, no injuries were reported although it notes that the pedestrian may have sustained some possible injury.

October 16
Timothy J. Sullivan, 38, of 25-27 Ocean Avenue, Apt. 16, in Niantic was arrested for disorderly conduct during a reported domestic disturbance at the Elms Hotel in Niantic.
October 22
Dhimitri Djino, 18, of 10 Hill Top Terrace in Waterford was pulled over by police for allegedly speeding while driving southbound on Flanders Road in East Lyme. During the traffic stop, the arresting officer noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Gjino was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, possession of less than half an ounce of cannabis, and with a motor vehicle license violation. Bond was set at $500.
