School Sports Teams Gear Up

School may not have started yet but the school sports season is already in gear. East Lyme high school students can try out for a variety of teams on Saturday, August 25. In most cases, try outs continue again next week starting on Monday. Here's today's schedule:

• Boys soccer practice will be held at 9 a.m. at the East Lyme High School Soccer Field. Try-outs continue through Tuesday.
• Girls soccer try-outs will be at Bridebrook from 9 to 11 a.m.
• Volleyball try-outs will be held at North Gym, 8:30-10:00 for grade 9; 10 to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. for grades 10-12.
• Field Hockey try-outs begin at 9 a.m. for grades 9 and 10 and at 1 p.m. for grades 11 and 12 on the field behind East Lyme High School.
• Women's Cross Country practice begins August 25. Students should meet at the Commons at 8 a.m. because the status of the new turf track is not yet known.
• Freshman football practice runs from 10 a.m. to noon.
