The Daily Five: Parking Issues at East Lyme Schools and Sound View Beach
Five things to know for Monday, August 27, 2012

1. Today's weather will be a mix of sun and clouds and there's a chance for scattered thunderstorms and rain, particularly in the evening. According to Weather.com, temperatures will top out at 79 degrees and cool off to 71 degrees this evening, at which point the chance of rain increases from 30 percent to 50 percent.

3. East Lyme students return to school tomorrow but there are a few things you'll need to know before you go. Due to ongoing construction at the High School, only seniors will be allowed to park in the student parking lot for the first week of school (August 28-31). .
The parking lot at Flanders Elementary School is being paved but should be available for buses and staff members to park. Parents will be able to use the Flanders School access road opposite Flanders Baptist Church on Route 1 to drop off their children but parents who want to park and visitors to Central Office should use the church parking lot. The new parking lot should be completed by November.

4. Summer is nearly over yet despite the mostly glorious beach weather we've enjoyed, businesses down by Sound View Beach say this season didn't live up to its promise and they blame Old Lyme's for that.
