1. It's supposed to be mostly cloudy today with the possibility of a passing thunderstorm in the late afternoon. Weather.com is forecasting a high temperature of 82 degrees and an overnight low of 70 degrees. There's a 10 percent chance for rain during the day and a 20 percent chance for rain overnight.
2. I've always said that our lovely little corner of the state is one of the best-kept secrets in Connecticut and, apparently, it's going to stay that way. The nominations are in for the Connecticut Office of Tourism's "Still Revolutionary!" contest and in Connecticut, none of our towns made it to the top 10.

Personally, I think everyone else is missing out and . Having said that, I'm pretty sure that Lyme is happy to remain a hidden gem. If the town of Lyme were to have a slogan, it would be: "It's quiet—and we like it that way!"
3. Niantic's turns 20 tomorrow and to celebrate, it's having a birthday party! Like all good birthdays, however, this one is going to be a long celebration that also includes a performance by Magician Zach Ivins and Children's musician Steve Elci on August 11 at the George Seebeck Pavilion behind the East Lyme Town Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.

This concert is one of a series of Saturday night concerts sponsored by the through September 2. Don't forget it's also holding a Beach Bash tonight starting at 5 p.m. at McCook Point Park and Beach, with music, dancing and later on, singing around a bonfire!
