Thief Stole Jewelry While Homeowner Was Sleeping in Old Lyme
Police are also investigating the reported theft of an antique lawn ornament from a home in Lyme.

Police are investigating two thefts reported this week.
Old Lyme Police Officer Wayne Collins is investigating a burglary reported on Hillcrest Road in Old Lyme on July 5 between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. The homeowner believes the thief gained entry through the unlocked front door and stole jewelry from the master bedroom while the 74-year-old victim was asleep in the bed.

Antique Lawn Ornament Taken in Lyme
State Trooper John Swokla from Troop F is investigating the theft of a cast iron antique horse hitch lawn ornament that was reportedly taken from a home on Old Hamburg Road in Lyme. The homeowner called police to report the larceny on July 9. The hitch is black and white, about three feet high, with a horse head impression on the top.
