Time for Dogs in the Lymes to Get a License!

It's the law! How to obtain or renew a dog license for dogs in East Lyme, Lyme or Old Lyme.

Since our dogs are always ready to hop in the car and go for a ride, why not get them a license? Actually, you have to. It's a state statute that Connecticut dogs must be licensed between June 1st and June 30th.

Connecticut dog laws mandate that dogs older than six months this June must be licensed or their licenses must be renewed next in June at the Town Clerk's office. Moreover, if you get a dog (older than six months) at any other time of the year, you have 30 days to license your new furry friend.

When you go in for your dog’s tags, you must present an up-to-date certificate of vaccination against rabies that is signed by a veterinarian and proof that your dog is spayed or neutered, if applicable.

The charge is $8 for altered dogs and $19 for unaltered dogs. Once you get your dog's tags, they have to be attached to the collar. You can download the application here.

The Town of East Lyme's website says they process approximately 1,500 dogs a year! You can contact the town clerk at 860-739-6931 ext. 120, if you have any questions.

According to the Town of Lyme website, they accept cash and checks made out to the Town of Lyme.

The Town of Old Lyme website lists similar information and you can contact the Town Clerk at 434-1605, ext. 221 with any questions.
