Watercolors? Waterlogged? What a Good Time!
Despite torrential rain, big crowds turned out for Old Lyme's Midsummer Festival
It rained dogs and llamas at yesterday but that didn't stop people from coming in droves. Admittedly, it wasn't a great day for plein air painting, a farmer's market, or a sidewalk sale but people found refuge in the galleries, shared laughs with Gina Barreca at Lyme Academy, and the rain stopped long enough for the dog show and the cook-off to go on as planned.
Old Lyme First Selectwoman Bonnie Reemsnyder said what she loves most about the two-day festival is seeing so many people strolling up and down Lyme Street, greeting friends and neighbors--and the breaks in the weather allowed time for that too.
