Artists Day at Valley Falls Heritage Center

Sept 7 event includes art, history and nature when "Plein Air" artists paint at Valley Falls

Art, history and nature all come together when the Friends of Valley Falls hold Artists Day 12-3 pm Sept. 7 at the Valley Falls Farm and Heritage Center. Local artists will paint in the "Plein Air" method to capture the farm's scenic views. Completed paintings will be sold, as well as other works by the artists. Musicians Handler and Levesque will play 1-3 pm from the farmhouse porch and the six buildings that comprise the Heritage Center's museum will be open.

At 2 pm., local historian Jon Roe will share his recent research on Anson Lyman, an early owner of the farm. Also see an exhibit on the Sharps Civil War rifle and its connection to Vernon.

Spend the afternoon at the farm and heritage center, watching the artists at work and relaxing while listening to the music. Bring a picnic and your sketch pad and enjoy what is often called the most scenic spot in Vernon. Free admission; limited parking at the Red Barn, 345 Valley Falls Rd., Vernon, or park at Valley Falls Park and walk the path to the barn.
