Vehicle Towed Off Rail Trail In Vernon After Crash: State Police
A car had to be towed from a hiking trail after a crash in Vernon, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A car wound up careening off Interstate 84 and landing on a section of the Rails-to-Trails system in Vernon, state police said.
The crash took place Friday just after midnight.
A state police crash report indicates that a Mazda Cx-5 Sport was heading was on Interstate 84, west of Exit 66 when the driver, a 39-year-old Coventry woman, lost control and began to spin out. It traveled down an embankment and landed on the nearby Rails-to-Trails system.

State police said authorities had a open a gate so a wrecker wrecker could physically make its way onto the trail to remove the vehicle.
The driver turned out to be drunk, state police said.

She was charged with driving too fast for conditions and driving under the influence, according to an arrest report.
No major injuries were reported.
