Columbus, Indigenous Peoples Day Trash Schedule Posted In Vernon

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed on Monday Oct. 13, 2025 in observance of Columbus Day – Indigenous Peoples Day.

Trash and recycling will not be collected on that day but instead will be collected on Tuesday Oct. 14, along with that day's regular collection.

If delays occur, residents should keep their carts at the curb.

Excess trash and recycling may always be brought to the Vernon Transfer Station free of charge year-round on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
