Cops Intercept Stolen Rental Car In Vernon

VERNON, CT — Vernon and state police intercepted a stolen rental car on Monday afternoon.

A heavy police presence was noticeable in the center of Vernon at about 2 p.m. Cruisers from both Vernon and the state were patrolling the Center Road corridor after receiving a tip that a stolen rental car was headed that way, authorities said.

The car was eventually caught and surrounded at the Valero station on Route 83.

Vernon police said a man was detained but no arrests have been filed yet, citing a still-active investigation.
