VERNON, CT — Officials at the Cornerstone Foundation began the new year with an impassioned plea to stock its food panty.

Some items are "urgently needed." They include:

  • Cans of tuna
  • Cans of beans or corn
  • Pasta sauce in plastic or aluminum cans (not glass containers)
  • Cans of tomato or chicken noodle soup
  • Canned pasta
  • Rice side dishes in boxes or pouches
  • Instant potato pouches
  • Four-packs of pudding

Cornerstone officials said "regular-sized" packages are needed, not large family packs. The smaller sizes make the items easier to carry, they said.
