A dog was found abandoned in Bolton Notch on Thursday.

VERNON, CT — A dog was found abandoned in Bolton Notch on Thursday.
The dog was found on the Hop River Trail and Vernon Animal Control officers are looking for information on her circumstances. The dog that was "left at a dead end of a trail" in an open wire crate with an orange blanket, officials said.
The dog is being described as a female, "pitbull-type" dog with a red collar.

Animal Control officers were unable to immediately scan for a micro-chip because the dog was scared and lunging at them, officials said.
The dog is currently safe at a shelter, officials said..
