VERNON, CT — A strange incident at the Reservoir Road commuter lot in Vernon left a 59-year-old man with a drunken driving charge, state police said.

The scene unraveled at 1:13 a.m. on Nov. 25, according to a recently released arrest report. The lot is located at the Exit 67 interchange to Interstate 84.

State police were notified by a caller that a driver who was outside a vehicle, fell backward and hit his head, according to an arrest report.

When state police arrived at the commuter lot, the man was back in his vehicle and in the driver's seat, according to an incident report.

It was determined that not only was the man drunk, but his license had been suspended, according to an arrest report.

In addition to the DUI charge, the man was also charged with driving while under suspension. He was transported to an area hospital as a precaution, according to an arrest report.
