East Hartford Police Officer from Vernon Suspended

A local man will be away from his East Hartford Police duties for two weeks, the Hartford Courant reports.

An East Hartford Police Officer from Vernon has been suspended from his job in light of accusations that he used "excessive force on a 12-year old boy," according to a report by the Hartford Courant.

Woodrow Tinsley III, 34, is reported to have "physically compel[led] a juvenile," during an attempt to bring the boy to a court-ordered psychological evaluation on Nov. 15, 2012, according to the Courant.

According to reports, Tinsley said the boy was at first compliant, but then struggled and assaulted him, forcing Tinsley to put the boy in handcuffs, the Courant reports.

An official investigation found no probable cause for Tinsley's arrest regarding the incident, according to the Courant.

The boy's mother has since filed a $20 million civil lawsuit.
