Pieces Of New Coffee Shop Set To Be Put Into Place At Plaza In Vernon

The pre-fab parts of a new coffee business have arrived and are slated to be lowered into place by a giant crane this weekend.

VERNON, CT — A new coffee shop with a drive-in concept is to be put in place this weekend at the Tri-City Plaza in Vernon.

A large crane is scheduled to arrive Saturday morning to lower pre-fabricated pieces into place. The new 7 Brew is taking the place of the old Denny's restaurant.

Demolition work on the Denny's building began in late January and it is now completely razed. The main piece of the new building, a cooler segment and the drive-through parts have arrived by truck. The puzzle was initially slated for completion Friday, but problems with a crane delayed the work until Saturday, co-owner Sharon Parmar said.

In September, Parmar, a Vernon native, announced she is returning to her hometown to open up a coffee place with a unique customer service strategy at the old Denny's location. She secured a lease for the spot about two months before that while adding Tri-City Plaza was "a big part of my weekends" when growing up.

Parmar is the co-owner of 7 Brew along with her husband, Manraj Parmar, her sister, Kiran Kapoor, and Kiran's husband, Rohan Kapoor. They also own a 7 Brew in Wallingford. The same construction crew has been working on the Vernon location.

Kiran and Sharon attended Lake Street School and Rockville High School and Sharon Parmar said opening a business in a plaza at which she spent so much time "feels like a full-circle moment."

The pre-fab building will total 510-square feet. Construction crew members said the electrical elements are already in place and the parts just have to be lowered onto a slab and connected.

The 7 Brew experience includes customers being greeted by staffers, who take orders over two drive-through lanes (similar to Chick-fil-A). There is no inside seating.

"A staff member is with a customer from order to pick-up," Parmar said.
