VERNON, CT — There's a new Ram in town and he's already a star at the Rockville High School stadium.

Meet James Junior, of JJ as he's being called. JJ made his official debut last Friday in Rockville's football win over Coventry — and he did it in style. JJ was in the customary mascot spot at about the 10-yard line somewhere between the RHS bench and the adjacent Agricultural Science and Technology wing.

And seemingly everyone wanted to meet him. He posed for selfies with children, alumni, fans and even the politicians who emerged from the woodwork to attend the game.

JJ is 9 months old and was born in January to an RHS ASTE program graduate. He comes from a family of show-caliber Rams as his siblings were shown nationally.

He replaces the former mascot, James, who passed away in February from a complicated illness.

Last week, JJ spent a half on the sidelines, but school officials said his field time will increase as he gets used to the crowds.
