VERNON, CT — Several people were transported to hospitals after four vehicles collided at an intersection in Vernon Sunday morning.

The crash took place just after 9:30 a.m. and sent a plethora of emergency vehicles to the intersection of Hyde Avenue and South Grove Street, where four cars had collided, fire officials said.

One person had to be cut out of one vehicle, and multiple people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

The road was shut down until 10:44 a.m., while the scene was cleaned up, police said.
