State Police Respond To 3 Crashes In 15 Minutes In Vernon
Last week's bad weather led to a trio of crashes within minutes, state police said.

VERNON, CT — State police responded to three crashes in a 15-minute span on Interstate 84 in Vernon during last week's bad bout with weather, crash reports show.
At 11:30 a.m. last Tuesday, a 51-year-old woman from Woonsocket, RI, was heading west on I-84 in the left lane just prior to the Manchester line when her 2006 Toyota Solara skidded on a left-hand curve, shot across the highway and slammed into a guardrail off the right side of the road, according to a crash report. The woman was taken to an area hospital with a minor head injury, according to a crash report.
Nine minutes later, on an Exit 64 interchange on-ramp, a 21-year-old New York City man lost control of a rented 2024 Mercedez-Benz Sprinter commercial van and hit a concrete barrier, according to a crash report.

State police said the driver had an arm injury, but refused medical treatment at the scene. The van was towed away, according to a crash report.
Six minutes after that, a 31-year-old New York City man was heading west on I-84 in Vernon near Exit 65 in the center lane when his 2021 Mercedez-Benz G63 sport utility vehicle spun out of control and took out the Dobson Road overpass sign, according to a crash report.

The driver was cited for a lane violation.
