VERNON, CT — In observance of Presidents Day, the Vernon Public Works Department will close on Monday, Feb. 21 — and it has changed its waste collection schedule as well.

Refuse and recycling will be collected the following day instead (Tuesday, Feb. 21) along with that day's collection, and the town's transfer station will be closed on Sunday, Feb. 20.

Typically, excess trash and recycling can be disposed of at the transfer station for free on Sundays from noon-4 p.m., in addition to Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., town officials said.
