AUBURN, MA/VERNON, CT — A Vernon resident and former athletic director in Connecticut and now Massachusetts has been charged with sharing illicit online material with minors in Auburn, MA, where he has been a school system staff member, police said.

The investigation began on Jan. 22, when the Auburn Police Department was asked by the Auburn Public Schools administration to investigate a report of possible "concerning online activity" by a staff member of Auburn High School, according to a police report.

After an "extensive investigation," Auburn detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Curtis Field, 29, of Vernon, who is accused of "disseminating obscene material to a minor," according to a police report.

Field surrendered at police headquarters in Auburn Tuesday, and was brought to Worcester District Court, where he was arraigned on the dissemination charge and released on a $500 cash bond, according to a police report.

Police said the conditions of Field's release stipulate that he has no contact and to stay away from any "victims," and to keep away from schools in Auburn and nearby Spencer and have "no unsupervised contact" with anyone younger than 16.
