Vernon Man Facing Sexual Assault Charge After Underage Encounter in Ellington: Warrant
A 19-year-old from Vernon has been charged after a sexual encounter with a minor in Ellington, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A 19-year-old from Vernon has been charged with first-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact with a victim younger than 13 in Ellington, state police said.
Jeferson Janczak was arrested on Nov. 20.
The incident took place at a home near the Ellington-Vernon line between 2 and 4 a.m. during the overnight period before it was reported, according to a warrant. Everyone else in the home was asleep, according to a warrant.

The incident was reported just after midnight on Aug. 5 and was investigated by detectives from the Eastern District Major Crimes Squad, state police said.
According to a warrant, the girl claimed Janczak made sexual advances.

A witness interrupted the encounter after being awakened and immediately reported it to an adult, according to a warrant.
The girl was told by Janczak "to keep everything a secret" and, when asked by the girl if he were too old for what happened, he said, "Oh it's fine," according to a warrant.
The girl told state police the intimate, sexual touching made her uncomfortable, according to a warrant.
They knew each other, according to a warrant.
The first-degree charge is warranted by a state law governing sexual contact between someone younger than 13 with someone more that two years older, state police said.
