Vernon, State Police Nab 7 Drunken Drivers During Memorial Day Period, Records Show

VERNON, CT — State and Vernon police made seven drunken driving arrests combined over the Memorial Day weekend.

On Sunday at 2:14 a.m. a state trooper noticed a Nissan Rogue traveling between 95 an d 100 mph heading west on Interstate 84 near Exit 67, according top the arrest log. The car was pulled over and the driver, a 33-year-old woman from Vernon, was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence and a lane violation, according to the arrest log.

A day earlier, at 2:58 a.m., a 25-year-old East Hartford man was clocked doing 95 mph on the eastbound side of I-84 in the same area, according to the arrest log. He was charged with DUI, reckless driving and failure to wear a seatbelt, according to the arrest log.

Vernon police said they were also busy with intoxicated drivers on local roads.

On Friday night at 5:30 p.m., a 31-year-old Vernon man was speeding on bald tires while drunk, police said. He was charged with DUI, driving on unsafe tires, traveling too fast for conditions, a lane violation and driving while under suspension, according to the arrest log.

At 10:51 a.m. Friday, a 38-year-old Vernon man was charged with driving under the influence, according to the arrest log.

At 1:59 a.m. Saturday, a 28-year-old Vernon man was charged with traveling unreasonably fast and DUI, according to the arrest log.

At 3:36 a.m. on Sunday, a 32-year-old Vernon man was pinched for DUI, according to the arrest log.

At 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, a 33-year-old Coventry woman was stopped with no headlights on and driving while drunk, and charged with the corresponding violations, according to the arrest log.
