VERNON, CT — Three Greater New York City residents were caught with thousands in stolen merchandise last week.

Vernon police released details of the arrests over the weekend.

The incident took place during the overnight hours of April 16. Officers were called to the Talcottville Road CVS after employees observed three woman stealing approximately $1,000 in merchandise from the store, police said.

The suspects left in a vehicle shortly after, but while checking the area, an officer located three people matching their descriptions inside a vehicle parked behind a closed business, police said.

All three were subsequently arrested.

A search of the vehicle uncovered nearly $10,000.00 in additional stolen merchandise from other pharmacy and department stores.

Kamelia Johnson, 28, of Brooklyn, NY; Raven Washington, 34, also of Brooklyn; and Kayla Phillips, 28, of Linden, NJ; were charged with fourth-degree larceny.
