Vernon Woman Accused Of Threatening Judge At Juvenile Courthouse

VERNON, CT — An altercation at the juvenile courthouse in Vernon has led to an allegation of threatening a judge, state police said.

Lauren Willis, 32, of Vernon, was charged with second-degree threatening - violence to terrorize and second-degree breach of peace, according to an arrest report.

According to an arrest warrant, at 12:44 p.m. on Dec. 17, state police were summoned to the Tolland County Juvenile Courthouse after a threat was made toward Judge Margaret Murphy. The judge told state police that Willis was not pleased with a decision regarding she and her children, according to a warrant.

A court staff member told state police that, when Willis was trying to obtain documents, she became uncooperative, argued over representation and eventually said, "the judge already harmed me and my children," and repeatedly added, "Tell that (expletive) she's next."

The judge said she considered it a threat, a warrant indicates.

While in custody, Willis was served a warrant out of Manchester for three counts each of tethering a dog to an object without available water, failure to vaccinate for rabies, and failure to comply with dog ownership requirements.

The canine tickets were issued in connection with a family owned home on Spencer Street in Manchester, warrants show.
