Visit Valley Falls Heritage Center in the Fall

Autumn colors serve as a beautiful backdrop for this history museum

The Valley Falls Heritage Center and Museum has extended its season this year and will be open from 1-4 pm on Oct. 5 and Oct. 19. Enjoy the beautiful colors of fall while walking the eight-acre farm and visiting six historic buildings filled with artifacts found on the farm. This rare example of a turn-of-the-century gentleman’s farm tells the story of the families that lived here and the history of the Valley Falls area. Free admission; take a self-guided tour or one-hour guided tour, offered at 2 pm. A special exhibit on Christian Sharps, in partnership with the New England Civil War Museum, can be found in the red barn. “From Firearms to Fish” tells the story of the Sharps rifle that helped the Union Army win the Civil War. Unknown to many, after the war, Sharps moved to Vernon and built a trout hatchery at Valley Falls!

Located at 345 Valley Falls Rd., Vernon. Park at the Red Barn Welcome Center.
