Fatal Workplace Accident In Wallingford Investigated By OSHA
The employee killed in a workplace accident in Wallingford has been identified, according to a report.
WALLINGFORD, CT — The fatal forklift accident that killed an employee at Executive Dodge Jeep Ram in Wallingford last week is being investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to the Record-Journal.
Police responded around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 to Executive Dodge Jeep Ram at 406 South Orchard St. in Wallingford after an employee was pinned between a forklift and a truck.
Police said it appeared that the employee was using the forklift to remove a container from the truck, and while traveling up the driveway of the dealership, got out to look at something.

The forklift began to roll back down the slanted driveway, according to police.
Police said the employee ran and tried to stop the forklift with his hands, and was trapped between the forklift and truck.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, according to police.
The Record-Journal reports the employee has been identified as Thomas Orris, 33, of Meriden.
OSHA has six months to complete an investigation and release findings, including any violations, according to the Record-Journal.
