Obituary: Angelo D. Tavares, 94, of Wallingford
Angelo owned and operated Rubber Craft Industries in West Haven until retirement and was a proud World War II Navy Veteran.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Angelo D. Tavares, 94, of Wallingford, died Monday, March 28, 2022 at the West Haven Veterans’ Administration Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Barbara (D’Errico) Tavares. They would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary this May.
He was born in New Bedford, MA, November 23, 1927, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Tavares and was a proud World War II Navy Veteran.
Angelo was the proprietor of Rubber Craft Industries in West Haven until his retirement.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his daughters, Pamela Savenelli and her husband Michael Savenelli Sr., and Dori Mainella and her husband William Mainella; his four grandchildren, Michael Savenelli Jr., Angela Buccheri, Rebecca Orosz and Alexa Bessette; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Annibelle Mackay; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by eight siblings.
Angelo’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Saturday, April 2nd from 9 to 9:45am when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am.
Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
