Obituary: Barbara M. Flyntz, 79, of Wallingford
Barbara was known for her deep faith, generous heart, kindness and compassion. She enjoyed traveling and cherished her time with family.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Barbara M. Flyntz, 79, of Wallingford, beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Flyntz for 52 years, passed away peacefully January 24, 2022.
Barbara was born in Bridgeport on September 10, 1942, a daughter of the late William F. and Beatrice (Duch) May.
A graduate of St. Francis Nursing School in Hartford, Barbara was a Registered Nurse. She worked at a family practice in Westport early in her career, then later at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford.
Her kindness and compassion extended beyond her profession to everyone she met. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and Bob was her best friend, the love of her life, and partner in everything.
For 50 consecutive years, they vacationed in North Truro, Cape Cod—a tradition they began when their daughters were infants. She and Bob also enjoyed traveling, particularly amidst the beauty of America’s national parks, including Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park.
She happily doted on her daughters and grandchildren, was a loving sister to her siblings, and a loyal friend. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima in Wallingford from 1976 until her passing.
Barbara’s deep faith, generous heart, and her ability to see the good in every person and situation brightened the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her selflessness, grace, and joyful presence.
Her legacy can be seen in the bonds of her close-knit family, felt in the love she stitched into every relationship, heard in the countless happy memories that will keep her memory alive, and honored whenever we take care of each other.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by her daughters, Kristin Flyntz and her husband, Russell Waesche, of West Granby, Dr. Jennifer Rasmussen and her three children (Barbara’s beloved grandchildren), Gillian, Christian, and Gavin, all of Fairfield, and Amy Flyntz and her partner, Hermann N. Hesse, of Brooklyn, NY; her sisters, Beverly Graham and her husband, Robert, of Southington and Bernadette Hutter and her husband, Michael, of Tarpon Springs, FL; her brother, Bradford May and his wife, Maria, of Stratford; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 4 pm until 7 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wallingford. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
