Obituary: Cesar Ruiz, 82, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Cesar Ruiz, 82, of Wallingford, loving husband of the late Sol Angelica Cruz Ruiz, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Cesar was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on October 14, 1941, a son of the late Vidal and Julia (Cardona)Ruiz.

Cesar was very active at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford and was instrumental in getting the Spanish Community involved and having a dedicated Spanish Mass celebrated in the church each week. He also served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, was a Catechist, usher, sang in the choir, and served in many other capacities at the church.

Cesar is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Miriam Cruz-Perez and her husband, Miguel, of Wallingford; sisters, Mercedes Patino of Meriden, Sol Anunciacion Ruiz (Casilda) of Ponce, P.R.,; brothers, Theodoro Ruiz (Lolo) of Vero Beach, FL, and Ruben Cardona of Aguadilla, PR; a beloved goddaughter Zaida Patino-Cuadra and her husband, Oscar, of Meriden; his loving compadre and comadre, Andres and Bruny Sanchez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends who meant so much to him throughout the US and Puerto Rico. He was predeceased by his son, Cesar F. Ruiz, his brother, Juan Ruiz and sister, Nereida Santoni of Aguada, PR, and his brother-in-law, Paulino Patino of Meriden.

The family would like to thank all the family and friends who prayed, visited and were able to reach out to us during Cesar’s illness. The compassion shared with us was a testament of who he was and meant to everyone. We would also like to thank the nursing staff at Yale New Haven Hospital for the loving care they provided him. He will be missed dearly.

Cesar’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, April 19, 2024, directly at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will be in Naranjito Municipal Cemetery in Puerto Rico.
