Obituary: Florence Lathrop Carmody, 101, of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Florence Lathrop Carmody, 101, beloved wife of 60 years of the late Walter J. Carmody, formerly of Center St., and North Main St., Wallingford, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Masonicare Health Center.

Florence was born in Wallingford, August 31, 1920, a daughter of the late Stanley and Hazel (Wimpenny) Lathrop. She worked for the Wallingford Electrical Dept. until her retirement.

Florence lived in Wallingford for her entire life where five generations of her family have lived. Her homes were located on North Main Street, where she loved to spend time with her family and neighbors.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gail C. and James Rainey, of Wallingford, her two sons and daughter-in-law, W. John Carmody of Chapel Hill, NC, and Robert L. and Jeanne Carmody, of Wallingford; her eight grandchildren, J. Todd Rainey, Jennifer Rainey Quigley, Christen Rainey Birney, John C. Rainey, W. Justin Carmody, Megan H. Carmody, Samuel L. Carmody, and Tobin J. Carmody; her eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her four sisters; Jean Lathrop, Joan Lathrop, Grace Willhelm and Elizabeth Bartlett and her brother Stanley Lathrop.

Funeral services and interment in In Memoriam Cemetery will be private.
