Obituary: Gerard J. Mudd, 82, formerly of Wallingford

Gerry, a proud U.S Marine veteran, was very active in the community and a former General Supervisor for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Gerard J. Mudd, 82, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Wallingford, CT, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Florida. He was the loving husband of Sharon (Lunn) Mudd and the late Rita Mary (Martin) Mudd.

Gerry was born in St. Louis, MO, on April 13, 1939, a son of the late Frederick J. and Elizabeth L. (Makins) Mudd and was U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.

He retired as a General Supervisor from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He and Sharon retired to Cape Coral, Florida and traveled extensively.

Gerry spent 11 years with the Cape Coral Police Volunteer Unit; he served at St. Katharine Drexel Church as usher and revenue counter, and they sang and danced together every chance they found. Gerry was wonderful.

In addition to his wife Sharon, Gerry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Gerard Mudd and France Mudd of Wallingford, CT, and Mark Joseph Mudd and Carmen Mudd of Meriden, CT; his grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Mudd and Christopher James Mudd of Wallingford, CT; his siblings, Mary Beth Kretschmer, Kathleen Ann Cage (Ted), Teresa Marie Crawford (George), and John Thomas Mudd (Joanne) all of Missouri; Sharon’s son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jolie Hinners, and their daughter, Olivia Hinners; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, David Frederick Mudd. He was proud Opa to his honorary grandchildren Joey and Mary Caires.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Monday, January 31st from 9am to 10:15am when his funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am.

Interment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Face coverings are required at the services. Gifts in his memory may be sent to Wolfhounds Legacy (to serve veterans and first responders), 229 NW 22nd Place, Cape Coral, FL 33993.
