Obituary: Henrique Mesquita, 89, of Wallingford
Henrique, a dedicated employee of Nucor Steel in Wallingford for many years, cherished spending time with loved ones.
WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Henrique Mesquita, 89, of Wallingford, loving husband of 58 years to the late Ferdandina (Gomes) Mesquita, passed away peacefully February 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Pensalves, Portugal on November 15, 1932, a son of Jose and Adalaide (Jesus) Mesquita. He immigrated to the United States 41 years ago and worked for Nucor Steel in Wallingford until his retirement.
He helped Gouveia Vineyards and planted many of the grape vines there. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Manuel Mesquita and his wife Maria, Maria Chaves and her husband Albertino, Fernando Mesquita and his wife Dina, and Jorge Mesquita and his wife Bonnie, all of Wallingford; his brothers, Antonio and Miguel; his sisters Adalaide and Adelia; six grandchildren, Sonia, Brian Sofia, Sandra, Carlos, and Isabel; three great-grandchildren, Jose, Jeni and Jovani Quiles; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Manuel and Jose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 11 am.
Interment will be in Center Street Cemetery in Wallingford.
