Obituary: Howard Borgnine, 93, of Wallingford

Howard, an avid sports fan and loving family man, worked many years for Knudsen Brothers Diary and Gaylord Hospital.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From B.C. Bailey Funeral Home) Howard Borgnine, 93, departed this life on January 27, 2022 after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of Angeline (Siracusa) Borgnine. Howard was born in New Haven, Connecticut on January 22, 1929 to the late Fred and Dorothy (Patraw) Borgnine.

Howard graduated from Lyman Hall high school in 1947 where he was a two-year captain of the baseball team. He worked at Knudsen Brothers Diary and retired after 33 years. He then went to work at Gaylord Hospital as a shipping and receiving manager for 17 years.

Howard spent his retirement enjoying his summer home with his wife Angie and family. He was an avid sports fan and always cheered for his favorite teams the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He loved singing, dancing and enjoyed family Sunday dinners.

However, his favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He loved life, was kindhearted, and he got along with everyone. He will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched.

Howard is survived by his son Brent Borgnine and wife Kim, his daughter Bonnie Callan and husband Michael, his brother John Borgnine and was predeceased by his brother Donald Borgnine. His is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Robert (predeceased), Thomas, Ria, Michael, Matthew, Brian, and Jason and 4 great-grandchildren Rosetta, Angelia, Bryce and Crew.

A visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 4th at B.C Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford, CT from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A funeral Mass will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Church located at 139 North Orchard Street, in Wallingford, CT at 11:00 am.
