Obituary: Judith A. (Lesocky) Ciemier, 86, of Wallingford

Judith, affectionately known as "Mimi", was an award-winning quilter, former member of the Heritage Quilters and Wallingford Garden Club.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Judith A. (Lesocky) Ciemier, 86, passed away peacefully at Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden on Monday, August 23, 2021 after a brief illness.

She was born July 15, 1935 in Hartford, CT to the late Frank and Julia (Yuhas) Lesocky. She was the devoted wife of Michael F. Ciemier of Wallingford, CT.

Together they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Judy had a talent and passion for sewing and making handcrafted articles. She was an award-winning quilter; entering shows across New England and often bringing home blue ribbons and best-in-shows for her hand quilted pieces.

She was a former member of Heritage Quilters and the Wallingford Garden Club. She will live in our hearts and our homes through the countless pieces of artwork that she quilted with love.

Besides her husband; Judy is survived by her five children, Patricia (Timothy) Srenaski of Woodbury, CT;

David (Janet) Ciemier of Old Saybrook, CT; Wendy (David) Gardiner of Wallingford, CT; Suzanne (Vincent) Pizzoferrato of Newington, CT and Michael Ciemier of Charlestown, NH; her sisters Margaret Andrews of Belfast, ME; Bernadette Kowalski of Delmar, DE; Edith Johnson of Austin, TX and her brother Francis Lesocky of Naples, FL.

Judy was a loving grandmother known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren.

She called them the light of her life and enjoyed teaching them the fine art of sewing, canning and baking.

Mimi is survived by nine grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Srenaski of Bethany, CT; Mary (Stan) Wheeler of Niantic, CT; Catherine (Marc) Uustal of Exeter, RI; David Ciemier of Dover, NH; Randy and Benny Gardiner of Wallingford, CT and Rebecca, Heather and Brian Pizzoferrato of Newington, CT; and her four great-grandchildren Avery and Owen Wheeler of Niantic, CT, and Calev and Viia Uustal of Exeter, RI.

The family would like to thank the staff of Apple Rehab and Beacon Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during Judy’s recent illness.

Calling hours are Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Yalesville Funeral Home; 386 Main St., Yalesville, CT.

Burial will be private at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford, CT.
