Obituary: Konstantine “Gus” Kostas, 80, formerly of Wallingford

Gus worked at the Hospital of Saint Raphael for over 30 years and was known for his unwavering dedication to his family.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Konstantine “Gus” Kostas, 80, of Spring Hill, TN and formerly of Wallingford, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 18th after a short valiant battle with cancer.

He was born in New Haven on August 7, 1941, a son of the late Theofanis and Mary (Thomas) Paraskeva Kostas.

Gus worked at the Hospital of Saint Raphael for over 30 years where he retired from the X-Ray Engineering department. He was a man of unwavering dedication to his family, selflessly giving of himself day or night.

Possessing a gifted mechanical aptitude that could repair or build anything asked of him, coupled with a willingness to help anyone in a time of need, he gained many long-lasting friendships and much admiration throughout his lifetime.

Gus leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Valentina Kostas; his daughter, Christina (Nels) Berntsen; his sons, Demetri (Heather) Kostas and Andrew (Jennifer) Kostas; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Marks, Christopher Kostas and Matthew Kostas; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in his memory to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT 06477.
