Obituary: Lorraine “Ace” C. Eylward, 92, of Wallingford

Lorraine worked many years as a bookkeeper at Stanley Judd. She was an avid gardener and a long-standing member of the community.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Lorraine “Ace” C. Eylward, 92, of Wallingford, wife of the late Raymond Eylward, passed away June 16, 2022 after a decades long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Lorraine was born in Wallingford on December 28, 1929, a daughter of the late Anthony and Madeline (Cerri) Dorsey.

She graduated from Lyman Hall High School as a cheerleader and captain of the Women’s basketball team. She married her high school sweetheart, Raymond, and they were lifelong Wallingford residents.

She worked as a bookkeeper at Stanley Judd until she retired to care for her mother, mother-in-law, and daughter, Nancy. She also cared for her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard.

She adored her four dogs Champ, Sam, Chloe and Boomer. She was a long-standing member of the Most Holy Trinity Church where she belonged to the Trinity Ladies Club and enjoyed working at their annual bazaar.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Susan Hiller and her husband, Robert, of Meriden; her brother, Robert Dorsey and his wife Phyllis; her sister in-law Bernice Dorsey; her grandchildren, Amanda Baro and her partner, Adam Rich and Jason Noyes and his wife, Tara Curcio Noyes; and her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jude Noyes, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two daughters, Roberta Eylward and Nancy Noyes, and a brother, Kenneth Dorsey.

Lorraine’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 9 am until 10:30 am. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am.

Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her honor can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
