Obituary: Madeline (Twohill) Oertel, 89, of Wallingford
Madeline, affectionately known as "Mimi", was dedicated and devoted to her family, always cherishing her time with loved ones.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Madeline (Twohill) Oertel, age 89 of Wallingford, wife of the late Jean F. Oertel, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at Midstate Medical Center, with family by her side.
She was born in New Haven, CT on April 6, 1932, a daughter of the late Edward and Madeline (Glynn) Twohill.
Madeline, (Madge) graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1950 and her first job was in the Classified Adv. Dept. of the New Haven Register. After 7 years, she left there to raise her family.
She also worked for Aura Mfg. Co. of North Haven, Cablewave Systems of North Haven and retired from Gaylord Hospital as secretary of the Food and Nutrition Dept. in 1996.
Above all else Madge and Jean, married over 60 years, showed great love and devotion toward each other and to their wonderful, beautiful family. The family would like to thank the Wallingford EMS and Fire Dept. for always being there when needed and a special thank you to the caring medical staff at Midstate Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Pasquale and her husband, Joseph, of Durham, Brian Oertel of Wallingford, Susan Castelli and her husband, Chuck, of Chester; and her sister, Sr. Patricia Twohill O.P. of Columbus, Ohio.
She was affectionately known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Casey Lemay (Dan Villwock), Steven Gianotti (Melissa), Joseph Gianotti of Tennessee, Michelle Newbury (Chris); step grand-children John and Alexis Castelli; and her great-grandchildren, Boady and Sam Villwock, Dylan, Madison and Jameson Gianotti, Peyton and Calvin Newbury.
Also, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Edward Twohill, Jr., Arline Kennedy, Robert Twohill, Rita Twohill, and Rosemary Fuhr, and her step-mother, Edith Wilson Twohill.
Madeline’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4 pm until 6 pm. Her funeral service will be at 10 am on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the funeral home.
A memorial Mass and celebration of her life will be held in April. Interment will be in Northford Cemetery in Northford.
