Obituary: Marie Ann Gomes, 88, of Wallingford

Marie worked as a bookkeeper, was an officer for the Wallingford Emblem Club and also served on many community organizations.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Marie Ann Gomes, 88, of Wallingford, wife of the late Walter Gomes, passed away January 19 at the Curtis Home in Meriden.

She was born in Kensington on August 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Ralph and Madeline (Gallino) DeSapio.

She worked as a bookkeeper for many years until retiring. She was a girl scout leader and past officer of the Wallingford Emblem Club.

She was an active communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and was a religious education teacher.

She was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center and was a manager of the E.N.P. meal program there. Marie also liked to dabble in art.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Spignesi and her husband, Ted, of Meriden and Cathleen LaBombard and her husband, Rod, of Meriden; her grandchildren, Brett Spignesi and his wife, Jess, Tyler LaBombard and his wife, Amy, and Trevor LaBombard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marie’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9 am until 10:30 am when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am.

Interment in St. John Cemetery will be at a later date.
