Obituary: Marjorie (Munsell) Smith, 95, of Yalesville
Marjorie, known for her kind, loving and helpful nature, was a dedicated nurse, serving both Gaylord and Meriden-Wallingford Hospital.

YALESVILLE, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Marjorie (Munsell) Smith, 95, of Yalesville, wife of the late Robert J. Smith for 67 years, died quietly June 12, 2022.
Marjorie was born in Winsted on March 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Maude (Barshaw) (Munsell) Webb and Elbert Munsell
After earning her CNA in the early 1980’s, she went to work at Gaylord Hospital, the former Veteran’s Memorial Hospital and the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital. This work was her real passion, as it was so in keeping with her kind, loving and helpful nature.
In addition to nursing, she had many passionate pastimes. She was an avid bowler, gardener and bird watcher. She loved to crochet, cook, bake and read. She was a card shark with a ready wit and hearty laugh.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary (Smith) Joyce; her son, Mark Smith Sr.; granddaughters, Cheri Joyce and Erica Smith; grandsons, Kevin Joyce and Mark Smith Jr.; special niece, Priscilla (Fones) Jones; grandniece, Abby (Jones) Barbieri and Jennifer (Jones) Homan; and grandnephew, Clifford Jones.
She was predeceased by her cherished sister, Florence (Munsell) Fones.
At Marjorie’s request, there will be no memorial service. Instead, please go to a local park and enjoy the birds and smell the flowers as that’s where her spirit will be.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
