Obituary: Merete Heimburger Bormanis, 82, of Wallingford
Merete co-owned and operated World of Travel prior to merging with Fugazey/World Tek Travel of New Haven for 35 years.
WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) Merete Heimburger Bormanis, 82 of Wallingford, formerly of Hamden died peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Laurel Ridge Nursing Center, Ridgefield.
She was the beloved wife of the late Nils Bromanis. Merete was born in Riga, Latvia on February 2, 1939, a daughter of the late Nicolas and Renate Jehnert Heimburber, and had resided in Hamden for 30 years before moving to Wallingford 15 years ago.
Along with her husband Merete owned and operated World of Travel prior to merging with Fugazey/World Tek Travel of New Haven for 35 years until retiring in 2007.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (David) Cronin of North Haven and Tina Spose of Wallingford, three sisters and a brother, Elisabet, Stina, Hanne and Peter, all of Copenhagen, Denmark, and three grandchildren, Eric, Julia and Peter.
