WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Ralph Anthony Del Vecchio, 62, of Wallingford, passed away on Monday August 16th at his home. He was born in New Haven on January 5th, 1959.

He was predeceased by his parents, the late Ralph Del Vecchio and Marie (Savino) Benevento.

He was an enthusiastic follower of politics and sci-fi movies. He had a passion for mathematics and science, particularly physics and astronomy.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, was a fan of electric vehicles, enjoyed building his own computers, and as many know, he was quite good at car repairs and home renovations.

Most of his working life was spent troubleshooting and repairing things, first at Pratt & Whitney and then for his nearly 33-year career at the US Postal Service.

Many knew his love for baking for others -- including fantastic cakes. It was important to him to make cakes to honor his friends and loved ones on their birthdays.

Ralph was very proud of the three degrees he earned, most recently his bachelor’s at Quinnipiac University. He often mentioned how pleased he was when his children followed suit with college and rewarding careers themselves.

Ralph is survived by his accomplished children of whom he was extremely proud: his daughter, Janeice Del Vecchio of Barkhamsted and his son, Matthew Del Vecchio of Groton; his siblings, William Del Vecchio and his wife Paula of Wallingford; Goia Cavallo and her husband Robert of Prospect; and Christine Buckman and her husband Richard of Monson, MA, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Cinestudio in Hartford or the SETI Institute in Ralph’s name.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
