Obituary: Robert N. Dudley, Sr., 84, of Wallingford

Robert served in the U.S. Navy, worked for many years for the Dept. of Transportation and also owned and operated Bob Dudley's lunch wagon.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Robert N. Dudley, Sr., 84, of Wallingford, loving husband of Rose (Balon) Dudley, passed away July 18, 2021 at Hartford Hospital.

He was born in Dennisville, Maine on April 4, 1937, a son of the late Theodore and Sarah (Farley) Dudley.

He served in the United States Navy, retired from D.O.T, then ran Bob Dudley’s lunch wagon where he served breakfast and lunch. Rob was known for his steamed cheeseburgers and chili dogs.

He loved to have many picnics with friends. When he finally retired, he hung out at Chick’s Junk Yard where all the guys gathered on Saturdays to have coffee and donuts and a lot of good humor and ball-busting with each other.

He will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife Rose, he is survived by his son, Robert N. Dudley Jr. of Wallingford; his daughters, Lisa MacNamara of Wallingford and Gail Swanson of Meriden; his grandchildren, Kayla, Mindy, Brendan, Megan, Jason and David; his great grandchildren, Devyn and Avery; and his beloved dog, Tutu.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, July 28 , 2021 at 10am at State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford.
