The owner apologized for the "sudden and surprising news," and said there will be a 20 percent off sale for the entire shop.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Hidden Gem On Main will be closing its shop in Wallingford after seven years in business, the owner announced Friday.
In a post on Facebook, the owner apologized for the “sudden and surprising news” that Hidden Gem on Main will be leaving its space at 33 North Main St. (behind Archie Moore’s) by the end of October.
The building Hidden Gem on Main has been leasing since 2018 is being sold, according to the Facebook post.

“Since our lease will be ending soon, I have made the difficult decision to dissolve Hidden Gem On Main and be out of the space by October 31st,” the post reads. “I was informed the building was to be sold not very long ago, I honestly did not anticipate such a quick sale, so my head is spinning!
“Unfortunately, it is imminent that the rent will increase which is also another factor to my decision.”

The owner plans to open a new business in another space in Wallingford Center, or in surrounding towns, possibly in Branford, North Branford, Durham or Cheshire, according to the post.
The popular gift shop sells crystals and gemstones, gem jewelry, tarot and oracle cards, home décor, candles and more. It also hosts readings, classes and other events.
The store is holding a 20 percent off sale for the entire shop. Displays, furniture, office equipment, etc. will also be for sale.
The owner also encouraged customers to use any gift cards, and said no gift cards will be sold moving forward.
“At the moment, I’m more overwhelmed with the projects at hand than sad, I know that will come but I’ve had the most wonderful support from the Readers and Practitioners, Friends and Family,” the owner wrote in the post on Facebook. “So many have voiced and predicted that something amazing and magical will result in this change and adventure, so that is what I will focus on…not saying goodbye but manifesting a perfect space for all to continue to gather, laugh, relax, rejuvenate, heal and find the magic!”
