WALLINGFORD, CT — The town will hold a special storm debris collection next week. Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, the Department of Public Works will pick up brush downed by Tropical Storm Isaias.

All storm-related brush (limbs, branches, and sticks) must be placed at the curb along public road frontage, according to officials.

“The Town is requiring that brush be cut into sizes appropriate for collection crew workers to lift and carry,” officials wrote in a news release. “The crews will ONLY be picking up fresh storm debris; DO NOT mix in old yard debris, household waste, or building materials.

“Brush should be placed at the curb for the START of the collection program. Once collections have been made in an area, crews will NOT return to remove subsequently placed material.”

Residents who miss the one-time collection can take their brush to the Compost Center at 157 John Street at no charge. Leaves are also accepted.
