Today in Wallingford: Five Things to Know

Here's five things to start your day.

1. There's a nice day on tap for today. Sunny with a high near 86, according to the National Weather Service, with north winds 6 to 13 mph. The weekend's forecast it just as pleasant.  Get out there and enjoy it!

2. HAVE YOU SEEN ME? Resident Jan Lyon is hoping her cat lost in the area of Simpson Avenue is found, and you can help by keeping an eye out for the grey older indoor cat who slipped out the door and has been missing since Monday evening. She was wearing a pink collar and heart shaped tag with the phone number 203 265 3233. She's shy and is on medication for asthma.

3. Got a student going back to college? While you may first turn to traditional stores to furnish their dorm room, there is an alternative that at the same time supports a good cause.

The Habitat ReStore at 286 South Colony Road, Wallingford, is a great place to shop if you're furnishing a dorm room or apartment! The ReStore carries desks, computer tables, lamps, kitchen and living room furniture, beds, dressers, household items—everything you’ll need to set up your home away from home.

Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and proceeds from the ReStore are used to build Habitat for Humanity homes in the Greater New Haven area.

4. One resident says there are major problems at North Farms Reservoir, including a trash problem and hunters that infringe upon those there to enjoy the park. Read her post here. Have you experienced problems at the reservoir?

5. Giving Back to the Community: From Amore Pizza: "Just a heads up that Amore Pizza is happy to make donations for community events schools etc.

We also do Amore night for several schools in town. If your PTO would like to participate, please give us a shout. Thanks, Keith, Amore Apizza, 203-265-2379."
