Wallingford Board of Education Hires New Assistant Superintendent
Colin McNamara, who was the assistant superintendent for Killingly, will take over for the departing Jan Guarino.

Monday night, the Wallingford Board of Education unanimously appointed Colin McNamara as the new assistant superintendent for personnel for Wallingford Schools, replacing Jan Guarino.
Guarino, who was assistant superintendent of personnel for the last four years in Wallingford, is leaving the school district to become the superintendent of the Old Saybrook School District, according to The Record Journal. McNamara is currently the assistant superintendent for Killingly Public Schools, according to the Journal.
"We're very excited," Wallingford Superintendent Salvatore Menzo told The Record Journal. "He's experienced as an assistant superintendent… It'll be a nice opportunity to bring in new experience."

McNamara will start on July 15, as Guarino is leaving at the end of this school year, according to The Record Journal. Before working in Killingly, McNamara worked as a principal in Willington and a teacher and administrator in Virginia, according to the Journal.
"I'm really excited and looking forward to working with you all and getting to know you all better," McNamara told the Board of Education, according to The Record Journal.

Wallingford has two assistant superintendents, the assistant superintendent for personnel and the assistant superintendent for instruction. Ellen Cohn is the assistant superintendent for instruction for Wallingford.
