Carol Ann Dombroski DiCarlo, 73, died on Aug. 8, 2025. She worked at Home Bank & Trust, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and BL Companies, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed wintering in Florida after retirement, and took great joy in time with her granddaughters, especially at soccer games.

Earl W. Smith, 104, died Aug. 9, 2025. A WWII Air Transport Command veteran, retired machinist at Atlantic Machine Tool Works, and avid golfer, bowler and stock market enthusiast who built and lived in his own home.

Rev. Joseph J. Cretella Jr., 87, died Aug. 9, 2025. He was a former Peace Corps volunteer, Spanish and Latin teacher, Adult Education leader, and served as a Deacon for many years at Holy Trinity in Wallingford as well as St. Barnabas and St. Frances Cabrini in North Haven.

Linda Lee Trumpold (née Jehan), 78, died Aug. 10, 2025. A devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing piano, cooking, collecting antiques, caring for animals, crafting, and singing karaoke.

Thomas N. Bender, 77, died Aug. 16, 2025. A U.S. Navy veteran and longtime Yale New Haven Hospital employee who enjoyed boating, watching dolphins, and relaxing at his second home in Fort Pierce, Fla.

Heroito “Oreo” Vélez, 59, died on Aug. 16, 2025. A retired Yale University custodian, he was an avid sports fan who followed the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

Sandra Lynn (Benard) Thibodeau, 65, died on Aug. 17, 2025. A standout high school athlete, longtime Lions Club member and its first female President, she volunteered with youth programs, earned numerous service awards, and enjoyed races, cookouts, casinos, day trips, and crafting gifts for others.

Loretta “Lorrie” (Dighello) Mansfield, 90, died on Aug. 18, 2025. A former secretary at Unimax Switch Corp and longtime nanny, she was devoted to her parish, active in the senior center, and found joy in faith, friendship, laughter, and sharing meals.
