Wallingford Mayor William Dickinson: I Will Seek 16th-Term

Dressed as if he was in the 16th-century, the longtime Republican mayor said he will seek another term.

On Wednesday, dressed in body armor and looking as if he just stepped out of a Renaissance Fair, longtime Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson, Jr. announced he will run for a 16th term this November.

The announcement came at the Republican Town Committee meeting Wednesday night, with Dickinson dressing as if he was in the 16th-century as a metaphor, according to The Record-Journal. He made comparisons to the work that needed to be done in Wallingford to Galileo and Copernicus, and said he was the man to do it, according to The Journal.

“The telescope doesn’t let us see the future,” Dickinson said, according to The Record-Journal. “But our ability to deal with what the future will bring depends on the structure of things we try to establish and live with.”
