Wallingford Students Rally Against Asian Hate

Rally draws the support of Senator Blumenthal, Attorney General William Tong, Representative Mushinsky and Wallingford Government Officials

March 27 2021 in Wallingford Connecticut brings yet another rally against hate focusing this time on the rise of crime against our Asian neighbors. But the focus was also very local as the speakers led by Sheehan student Amy Bui focused on life as an Asian American living in Wallingford.

Each local speaker eloquently related their experiences with prejudice, their fears for the safety of siblings and parents. They also related their pride for their culture and hope to use their voices to bring understanding. Their message emphasized that putting a voice to this issue is a starting point and that actions need to follow to effect real change.

To support their important message guest speakers included United States Senator Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, State Representative Mary Mushinsky as well as Wallingford Mayor William Dickinson, Town Councilor Gina Morgenstein and Board of Education member Ray Ross.
